I was fortunate to be homeschooled, which allowed me to explore academic subjects in greater depth and at a faster pace than I might have had in public school. As a result, I was ready for college early, and at age 14, I started taking classes at Hudson Valley Community College (one of the top community colleges in the country). I took classes in engineering and CAD. By the time I was 17, I had received an Associate degree in CAD. I stayed another year and received an Associate degree in Architectural Technology. I finished HVCC with 126 credits, a 4.0 GPA and great transfer options. I graduated on a Saturday, moved into my dorm at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Sunday and started RPI’s Summer Intensive for Architecture, where a year’s worth of studio and lecture are squeezed into 3 months. I am currently completing my final year of the 5 year B. Architecture curriculum and will then be finishing my final semester of my Masters in Architectural Lighting. Following, you will see some examples of my architectural work from HVCC, RPI and LRC.

In the fall of 2016, I traveled abroad to study in Latin America. Based in Córdoba, Argentina for a semester, I also participated in design intensives in Santiago and Valparaíso, Chile. While abroad, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the language and cultures of Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, and Peru. The following semester, I was selected to further research currently being done at the Center for Architecture Science and Ecology at SOM at 14 Wall St., NYC. This included involvement with AMPS, IC Solar, and several of the other active projects.

In spite of a full academic load, I have found time to take on additional responsibilities as an editor of RPI’s Architecture website, editor for Geofutures website, archivist for Publications, competitor on the ballroom dance team, and award winning regional choreographer. If I can find a spare moment, you might find me on stage myself (see my theatrical side). I’ve used my CAD experience to help with work for Habitat for Humanity, the SUNY Construction Fund, designing home retrofits in Vermont, and working on experimental performance spaces. I have had the opportunity to work with Dr. Besenecker on publishing research on the perception of colored light and to be a presenter at the 2016 PLEA Convention for work done on updating RPI’s green technology demonstration building with Professor Rempel. I am currently working on co-publishing a book with Professor Oatman, working as liaison for the Graduate Program Administrator and the Student Services Administrator, and being a Student Ambassador for the School of Architecture.
